Jackie Leon Smith Jr.

Jackie L. Smith, 57, passed away after a short battle with cancer on July 10, 2014. He was born May 7, 1957 in Muncie, IN. He moved to Jacksonville in 2006 from Boca Raton, FL and worked for Grand Western for 22 years as Vice President of Operations before retiring. He then went to work for Publix in 2007 as the Assistant Meat Manager in Jacksonville before his promotion to Manager in St. Mary's, GA.

Family members include his wife of 33 years Kathy J. Smith, mother Elaine (David) Skyles of Palm Coast, FL, father Jack (Barbara) Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, brother Jerry (Nancy) Smith of Palm Coast, FL, sister Sabrina (Todd) Wheeler of Port St. Lucie, FL, sister-in-law Diana (Roger) Crouse of Kentucky and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his daughter Donna Smith and granddaughter Tasany Downey.

A visitation will be held from 6-9pm, Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. N., Jacksonville with a funeral service at 7pm in the chapel.

Interment services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens South, 2401 Davie Rd, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
