James William Arnold, Sr., age 93, died on July 13, 2015. Jim was predeceased by his wife, Mary after 60 years of marriage. He is survived by his three children, James Jr., Elaina Tokar (Joel) and David. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Emily Rios, Lillian Bolfer and Katrina Tokar, two great-grandchildren, Anthony Rios and Henry Rios, with one more expected. Jim was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, a graduate of Jackson High School and a veteran of WWII, volunteering for the Navy the day after the Pearl Harbor attack. He served as a combat medic in the Pacific Campaigns on Guam, Bougainville and Guadalcanal. Jim continued his work for the Navy as a civilian employee of NAS JAX until his retirement. Jim is fondly remembered as an island of stability by his family, balancing rotating shifts with family outdoor activities. Fishing trips to the Mayport Jetties, Kingsley Lake in the summer and the annual beach house rentals help fill our memories. Services will be held at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard in Jacksonville, FL. Viewing is scheduled for 11:00 am with services to follow at 11:30 am.
