James Richard Collins
May 28, 1944 – May 10, 2022

James “Jim” Collins, 77, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away at HCA Memorial Hospital on May 10, 2022.
Jim served his country doing one tour with the Marine Corp and finished his career with the Navy and would retire in 1986 serving 21 years total. He went go on to become a Maintenance Supervisor for the remainder of his working years. He enjoyed going to church, doing men’s fellowships, studying the word of God, and traveling with his wife in his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Baumann Collins. He has three daughters, Brenda Ott (Larry Ott) and Laurie Sutherland (Raymond Sutherland), and Melynda Emery. He loved all his grandchildren; Travis Ott, Catelyn Ott, Felicia Gibson (David Gibson), and Kyle Henrikson. His siblings are Margaret Collins Blank, Sandy Kelly Garret, Peggy Collins O’Toole, Susan Collins Morton (deceased), Michael Collins, Debbie Kelly Gist, Denise Kelly Freeman, and Judy Collins Stephen. There are also many nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony held on May 17th at CrossRoad UMC located at 10005 Gate Parkway Jacksonville, Florida 32246. There will be a public viewing on May 18th, at 11:00 am, inside the Chapel of Chapel Hills Funeral Home and Memory Gardens, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville Florida 32225. Graveside service with Military Honors to follow at 2:00 pm at The Jacksonville National Cemetery located at 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
