James was born June 2, 1942, in Havana, FL. He was drafted into the Army shortly after high school to serve in the Vietnam War...this is where he met his wife of 42 years, Xuan (Sue) Jones. They lived in Vietnam where his two daughters, Teresa Nash (Jones) 52, and Nancye Jones, 51, were born. in 1971, they came back to the United States, arriving in Tallahassee, FL, where they had their third child, Thomas Jones, 50. Finally, they settled in Jacksonville, FL, where he worked as an aircraft mechanic until retiring at the age of 55.
James is preceded in death by his wife, Sue, and his parents, Wayland and Myrtice Jones.
