

Born in Birmingham, AL to James Edgar Marcum and Sandra Martin Marcum. James (Jimmy) grew up in Jacksonville, FL and graduated from Nathan Bedford Forrest High School. He then earned an Associate in Science Computer Technology degree from Florida Community College Jacksonville. Jimmy worked at Winn-Dixie headquarters in the computer operations department for the majority of his career attaining an analyst level position. In 2022, Jimmy started his own business operating a successful pawn brokerage in Folkston, GA which he thoroughly enjoyed.
He loved music and making funny videos that made our family laugh. He loved animals, especially cats. He loved fishing with his sister and other friends. He could uplift you when you were sad and was very good at problem solving.
Jimmy was predeceased by his father, James E. and stepmother, Lynn, of Gainesville, FL and his mother Sandra Steed and stepfather, Wayne, of Orange Park, FL. His surviving family members are: sister - Sheilah Marcum Gibson (Joe), brother- Jason E. Marcum (Kristi), nieces- Victoria Gibson Beckham (JD), Savannah Gibson Leventhal (Brandon), nephews- Jarrod Gibson (Meghan), Dalton Marcum (Hannah), and Collin Marcum (Bailey); great-nephews- Gauge Gibson, Riley Beckham, Oliver Gibson, Lukas Beckham, Charles Gibson, Bennett Gibson, Rhett Marcum, and Elliot Marcum, and longtime best friend, Wayne Heatherly.
There will be a graveside service at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 11:00 am. Pastor Thomas Nelson of Grace Baptist Church, Gainesville, FL will preside.
