Janet G. Simpson, 85 passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2018. Janet was born in Jacksonville, FL on July 24, 1932, the daughter of Jessie L. Grimsley and Susie L. Grimsley. As a young woman, after graduating from Andrew Jackson High School, Janet entered into her lifelong passion, a career in the floral industry. She worked in Cox Flowers and then worked in Kuhn Flowers for many years. In 1960, Janet and her husband, Buddy opened Carousel Flowers in the Arlington area and operated it successfully for 40 years until both decided to retire in January 2000. Janet enjoyed and dedicated her life to the floral industry. She was recognized with many industry awards and commentator assignments at florist conventions. Janet and Buddy enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe attending florist conventions each year. Janet was truly passionate about her profession.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her loving husband and partner Buddy, sister Lillian Townsend (Bill), sister Georgia Boree (Ray) and brother Jack Grimsley. Janet is survived by her oldest and dear brother, Fred Grimsley, (Francis), her two sons, Patrick G. Simpson and Michael R. Simpson (Janette), two granddaughters, Christie M. Simpson, Kelly S. Stoneberger (Erik) and two great granddaughters, Camilla W. Stoneberger and Vivienne R. Stoneberger.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers are welcome.
