Jerry Allen Grimes, born June 24, 1938, in Vernon, Texas has been called home to live with his Lord and Savior on November 19, 2024. He was the son of Arthur and Essie Grimes of Sulphur Springs, Texas. He is survived by his older sister, Gail Goin of Longview, Texas, his daughter's Jynifer Fortson (John) of Jacksonville, Florida and Jana LaVergne (Jack) of St. Louis, five grandchildren; Justin Migues, Jessica Kiltz (TJ), Jonathan, Joshua, and Jacob LaVergne, four great grandchildren; Oaklee, Riley, Harley, and Ryder, as well as many nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Jerry proudly served in the United States Navy as a Corpsman, attended University of Florida and Florida State University and retired from both UPS and ABC Rail Products.
He was a loyal member of Providence Baptist Church, Montevallo, Alabama where he enjoyed singing bass in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, JeriAnn Grimes, his father, and mother and younger brother Glyn Grimes.
Mr. Grimes requested cremation followed by the scattering of his ashes in the Pensacola Bay below the cemetery where his beloved 5 year old daughter was buried in 1965.
