

Jerry was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida. He was baptized into Christ at the age of 12 at the Riverside Park Church of Christ. He grew up on the Westside and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1966. He then attended Florida Junior College in Jacksonville. In the late 1960’s he was a fireman at the Lake Shore Fire Department, Station #22. He was instrumental in putting together one of the first rescue vehicles in Jacksonville. He then moved to Atlanta, Georgia and worked for the fire department in that large city. Later in life he was employed at Channel 12 in Jacksonville as one of the cameramen for the live news broadcast and other events. He took care of his parents for many years in their home. He was a good son, brother and friend.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Sue McEldowney. He is survived by a brother, Claude McEldowney (Bev), several cousins and many friends.
A graveside service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205, on Saturday, March 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be his brother, Claude McEldowney.
