James “Jim” Arthur Padgett Jr., age 77 of Jacksonville, FL went to be with the Lord on August 11, 2018. Jim was born February 26, 1941 in Tampa, FL. He joined the Navy in 1960 in Jacksonville. During this time he was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation from President John F. Kennedy for processing and printing the first pictures of the Cuban Crisis. He owned and operated New Hope Sound where he worked with many world renowned artists and performers. He supplied sound for the Gate River Run for 25 years. He also designed and built sound systems for many churches and venues in the area. He has served in every church to which he was a member and has been a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville for the last 10 years. He was loved and admired by family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter Diane Kimberly Padgett Loeffert. Jim will be greatly missed by his wife Reeta Lindsey Padgett, children James Arthur Padgett III, Douglas Steven Padgett, Sondra M. Davidson, Nichole (David) Smith, grandchildren James Arthur Padgett IV, Elijah Smith, Lindsey Smith. A visitation will be held for friends on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 11:00am. Burial will be on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 10:00am at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
