

Jimmie Lee Cole, 74, passed away April 6, 2011. He was born June 8, 1936 to the late Joseph and Bessie Carver in Nelson, GA. He moved to Jacksonville in 1981 from Warm Springs, GA. He served in the US Marine Corps and retired as Director of the Baptist Home for Children. Later he was a caregiver for Apex Homecare and enjoyed working with the homeless after retirement. He impacted hundreds of lives of children through his work, and was a mentor to many of Jacksonville’s children including Sheri Mixon, Rachel Keating, Melissa Higgins and Darnell Drummond, who loved and will miss him.
Family members include his wife of 45 years, Helen Cole, sons Daryl Cole of Tallahassee, FL and Brian (Mary) Cole of St. Louis, MO, granddaughter Samantha Cole, 6 nieces, 4 nephews, and mother-in-law Ercelle Blackmon. He is predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 4pm, Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Arlington Baptist Church with friends being received one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Arlington Baptist Church or the Sulzbaucker Center.
