

After graduating High School, he joined the United States Marine Corp. Where he proudly served for 21 years. After retiring from the military, he was a mechanic for Winn Dixie. He spent his days watching old western movies, NASCAR on the weekends, and working crossword puzzles. He enjoyed reminiscing about his childhood and his military days with his family. He was witty and enjoyed making others laugh, keeping them on their toes.
John is survived by his wife, Vickie; daughters, Jaime, Stephanie, and Amanda; son, Stephen; 6 grandchildren; sister, Betty Helvie; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Armistead; brother, Steve Armistead; and sister, Braunda Quarterman.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 1:00pm at Riverside Memorial Park under the direction of Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205.
