John Morris Holcombe, 87, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024 after a short illness. Born in Jasper, Georgia he was a son of the late Gordon & Maggie Holcombe. John moved to Jacksonville from Atlanta, Georgia with his family in 1969. Shortly after their arrival they joined St. Paul United Methodist Church and he has been a member there ever since. John enjoyed his service to God through his work in the church. He also enjoyed travel with his wife, Sue, in their later years, but his biggest joy came from his family and spending time with them.
He is survived by daughters Lynn (Bill) Read and Cindy (Larry) Newton, Sons Michael (Pam) Holcombe and Daniel Holcombe, niece Susan Tate and nephew Stephen Singleton, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 55 years, Ada Sue, and his sister, Louise Singleton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to Tunnels to Towers, Wounded Warriors Project or to St. Paul United Methodist Church.

A visitation for John will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225. A funeral service will occur Friday, July 12, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 8264 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32211. A committal service will occur Friday, July 12, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens, St Johns Bluff Rd N, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
