John W. “Jack” Mundt 88, passed away Friday May 25, 2018 at Acosta Rua Hospice in Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Sioux Falls, SD to Frederick and Charlotte Mundt on August 22, 1929. He is proceeded in death by a son, John David and wife of 63 years Rubye (Carr) Mundt. Jack was a devout Catholic. A founding member of the “Most Holy Redeemer” church and attended St. Matthews Church. He also belonged to the following organizations: Knights of Columbus (23yrs), American Legion (45yrs) and Disabled Veterans.
In his younger years; Jack was an avid ballroom dancer with his wife Rubye. In addition, he thoroughly enjoyed going to Orange Park Dog track and visiting with their many friends.
Jack is survived by son, Ray Mundt, two grandchildren, Ryan & Jennifer and Three great-grandchildren, Samantha, Sydney and Lily. One brother, Frederick D. Mundt, a nephew, Greg and a niece, Angela and her family.
The family would like to give special thanks and recognition to Sharon Wilson and her family for the many family gatherings and shared memories.
Jack was a kind, generous and honorable man. His smile, laughter and presence will be sorely missed.
Inurnment of ashes will be with military honors at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 1pm. HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERSIDE MEMORIAL PARK & FUNERAL HOME, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205.
