John Robert Sallas

In the early 1950’s, Robert went to work in the family business, Sallas Plumbing, started in 1919 by his father. He joined his brother Leroy and together, Leroy and Robert grew the business into one of the most reputable plumbing companies in Jacksonville, predominantly serving the Avondale and Riverside area.

Robert enjoyed the outdoors and was a mentor to many as a Boy Scout leader. His love of adventure extended to his family, taking numerous camping trips to North Carolina. His handshake was his word, his family was his life and he will always be remembered for his love, guidance, and generosity.

He is survived by his three children: John Robert Sallas, Jr., (Sue); Steven Richard Sallas (Pam); and Cynthia D. Lemon (Rich), along with five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death five years ago by his beloved wife, Virginia; his sister, Nellie Mae; and his two brothers, Leroy and Joseph.
