Johnnie King, Jr. was born on November 9, 1931 to the late Johnnie King, Sr. and the late Clara Johnson in Waycross, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his spouse Juanita King on August 25, 2015 after 52 years of marriage.
Deacon Johnnie King accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He was educated in Ware County and Duval County Public School Systems and attended Luther Rice Seminary School for biblical training. He was a devoted member of Tabernacle Baptist Institutional Church under the leadership of Pastor Michael C. Edwards, Sr. Deacon King was recognized as Christian Scholar who taught the word of God to many in Church School and Bible study. He served on the Deacon Board and served many years in the choir. His anointing and love for singing led him to join the nationally recognized Hall of Fame Gospel Singers.
Johnnie King, Jr. retired from the City of Jacksonville’s Fleet Management Division after working faithfully as a mechanic over 30 years. He was the owner of Johnnie On the Spot Cleaners and Confederate Point Cleaners in Jacksonville, Florida.
He was inducted as a Mason and was an active member of the civic community. Johnnie King, Jr. served in the United States Army and was an active soldier in the Korean War. During recreational times he enjoyed fishing and playing checkers.
Johnnie King, Jr. departed this life on September 22, 2016 and leaves behind to cherish his memory, Children: Paul A. King (Mynessia) and Teva Monroe. Grandchildren: Antoinette King (deceased), Mynessia C. King, Leslie King, LaTasha King, Victoria King, Azariah King, Jasmine Marshall, Malik Monroe and Doug Monroe Jr. Brother: Lary King (Marguerita) of Honduras, Aunt: Rosa Miles (Almos) of Waycross, GA. Nieces: Andrea King, Sonya King, and Nicky King. Nephews: James Johnson (Jolene), Andrew Johnson (Gloria), Jerome Cason, Rose Cason, and Kevin Martin (Dion) of Temple Hills, MD. Devoted Cousins: Robert Deary, Rodney Deary (Domineka), Kelvin Deary (Samara), Felicia Mervin (Robert), Ivy Kent (James), Robert Wilkerson (Victoria), Melvenia Williams, and Pam DeCosta. Special friend: Min. George Grant and many others that will miss him dearly.
