Johnny Melvin Jackson, Sr., age 86, passed away September 21, 2019. Johnny was born on February 7, 1933 to Zeb Jackson and Jewel Bernard Jackson in Jacksonville, Florida. Johnny was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, and also worked for the Jacksonville Shipyards. He was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church. Johnny will be deeply and sorely missed by all who knew and loved him dearly.
He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 57 years, Ethel; five children Johnny M. Jackson, Jr., Cindy Greer, Larry Greer (Robin), Jeff Jackson, and Tammy Compton (Mike); sister Martha Jones; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
