Joseph Carter

Mr. Joe was affectionately known as Grandaddy, Uncle Joe and Jody to those that loved him. He was born on December 7, 1945 in Alma, GA and resided in Baxley, GA until moving to Florida in 1955. Mr. Joe met his soulmate, Karen Rhoden, after his return from the Marine Corp in 1965. Together they had two beautiful children and were married for 55 years. Mr. Joe worked for the United Parcel Service and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. After his retirement he enjoyed camping and working for the Lord. Nothing meant more to Joe than his love for God and his family. He was a member at Lakeshore Church of Christ for many years where he served as a Deacon, Elder and taught classes. He served the Lord in any way he could, loving all people and ministering to any that needed him. He was loved by all and will never be forgotten.

Mr. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Carter, mother in law, Lennie Rhoden, and brothers, Sam, Hutch and Tony Carter and sister, Janette Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Rhoden Carter: daughter, Missy (Mike) Kennedy of Macclenny, FL: son, Kevin (Teresa) Carter of Jacksonville, FL: grandsons, Jordan, Tanner and Carter Kennedy all of Macclenny, FL: brother, Willie Carter of Baxley, GA: sisters, Grace Peterson and Ouida (Gene) Coleman both of Jacksonville, FL: brother in law, David (Jackie) Rhoden of Starke, FL: sister in law, Vickie (Harold) Lorick of Glen St. Mary, FL. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Joe will be held at Lakeshore Church of Christ, 1796 Old Middleburg Rd. N., Jacksonville, FL on Monday, June 21 at 11 A.M. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. (one hour before services). Burial will immediately follow the funeral service in Jacksonville Memory Gardens, Orange Park, FL.

The family would like to give a special thank you to everyone that helped care for Mr. Joe during his illness. Masks will be optional but recommended.
