She was born on August 22, 1943, in McPherson, Georgia, to her parents, Deuel and Myrtle Burleson. She went on to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in dental hygiene from St. Petersburg Junior College, a profession she dedicated herself to for forty years, always serving others with a gentle and caring touch.
On November 8, 1968, she married Ayres B. Turpin III. Together, they built a beautiful family and were blessed with three children. Joyce's hobbies included cooking delicious meals, taking long walks, and, most importantly, spending time in quiet reflection while studying her Bible. Her absolute favorite time of year was Thanksgiving and Christmas, when her home was filled with her entire family. Her kitchen was the heart of the home, a place where memories were made and cherished. For nearly fifty years, she was a dedicated and active member of the Lakeshore Church of Christ, where she shared her faith and was a source of light for many.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Deuel and Myrtle Burleson. She is survived by her devoted husband of almost fifty-seven years, Ayres B. Turpin III; her children, Delaine Bassell (Jeffrey), Karen Sargeant (Rick), and Brady Turpin (Alycia); her sister, Jan Raines (John); and her nine treasured grandchildren: Jacob, Joshua, Avery, Laura, Andrew, Zachary, Ryan, Josiah, and Evelyn.
Joyce’s beautiful legacy of grace, faith, and selfless love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to all extended family members, friends, and the members of Lakeshore Church of Christ for their outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
With appreciation,
The Turpin Family
