Judith Louise Lively Daugherty, 80, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Friday, June 25th, 2021. She was preceded in death by her father, James Saunders Lively, her mother, Mary Sedelia Lively, and her brother-in-law, Cedell Wallace Fletcher.
Judy was born in Hawthorne, FL on December 23rd, 1940. She attended Hawthorne High School, where she played basketball and graduated as valedictorian. She received a full academic scholarship and began college at Florida State University. Soon after, she left college and chose love. She was married to Raymond Henry Daugherty, Jr. on June 27, 1959. Years later, she completed her AA at Florida Junior College.
Judy had careers in real estate, Tupperware, and she retired from the Children’s Department at Dillard’s, where she so proudly received her lifetime discount. She was known for her affection and affinity for her family and friends. She was so proud of all of her grandchildren, and loved being “Gramma,” and most recently, “Great Gramma Judy.” Judy attended South Jacksonville Church of Christ for over 40 years, where she fellowshipped with friends who became family. Her happiest moments were spent in the company of the people she loved, or in a quick five minute phone conversation where she would call just to tell you she was thinking of you. Judy had the heart of a servant, which often translated into baking and cooking for others. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and celebrating life in every season. Judy loved music, and she especially loved when her Sweetheart, Ray, sang to her. She loved the Lord and prayed without ceasing. Everyone who knew her, knew they could ask for prayers and she would pray aloud in that very moment. Judy was colorful. Everything about her was vibrant, from her personality, to her clothing and accessories, to the way she made you feel, like you were the most special person in the world... because to her, you were. She could light up a room with her radiant smile, rosy cheeks, and infectious laughter. Judy’s joy and love trickles down and is so evidently seen in the lives of her family members. If you met her once, you likely made a friend for life.
Judy is survived by her husband, Raymond Henry Daugherty, Jr., daughters Linda Denise Pearce (Bill) and Donna Renee Myers (Dan). Grandchildren: William Lanier Pearce, III, Lauren Denise Pearce, Christopher Royden Myers, and Caroline Renee Myers. Great grandchildren: twins, Aden James Myers and Adeline Presley Myers. Brother and Sisters: James William Lively (Martha), Mary Jane Fletcher (Cedell), and Jean Elaine Beach (Max).
