Katherine Benham

Katherine T. Benham, 82, went to be with God the Father, her husband Richard N. Benham, her mother Katherine M. Peaslee, her father, Leonard Peaslee, her brothers; Robert and Paul Peaslee, on Saturday March 9, 2013. She was born in Boston, MA. She married the late Richard N. Benham in 1950. Katherine enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and crafting, and loved playing Bingo. Katherine was a very kind hearted person and hated to see anyone go hungry and would feed others before she would feed herself. Katherine used to crochet Afghans for the local nursing home and had donated over 60 Afghans. She also crocheted Layette sets for the Navy Relief and received several 1500-hour pins. Katherine also loved to read, especially romance novels. Katherine was a member of the Normandy Garden Club for over 30 years. She is survived by her seven children; Ellen Hood (Chuck), Richard Benham, Jr., (Bernadette); Katherine Derrick (Jim), Michael Benham, Sharon Doster (Jimmy), Erin Bremer (Mark) and Charles Benham (Sue). She is also survived by six grandchildren; Katherine Combs (Jessie), Nathaniel Ryan (Chrissy), of Jacksonville, FL, Matthew Doster (Brandi),Andrew Doster, and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, located at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jax. FL 32205.A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Mach 13, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
