After the death of her mother, O.E. and Willie Hunter adopted Kathleen. She spent the majority of her life in the Jacksonville area. Kathleen graduated from Lee High School in 1960 and married Frank Hamwey on September 2, 1961.
Kathleen is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frank Hamwey; daughters, Kelley McFeters (Brad) and Kimberly Growcock (Robert); grandchildren, Anthony McFeters (Tasia), Sara Winters (Alan), Scott McFeters (Rachel), Katrina Franklin (Chris), Alex McFeters (Eliana) and Katelyn McFeters; great-grandchildren, A.J., Ariel, Quinn, Emilia, Anya, Ilyana, Nehemiah, Simon and Hannah; and brother, Larry Welch.
Preceded in death by her parents, O.E. and Willie Hunter and her siblings, Betty Croft, Bob Barker and Linda Bass.
A funeral for Kathleen will be held Friday, May 31, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Following the funeral will be a committal service at 3:00 PM at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
