Kenneth Eugene “Kenny” Sheetz, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026, at the age of 76, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 26, 1949, in Moline, Illinois.
Kenny moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at a young age and later made Jacksonville his home in 1985. He spent 25 years working as an auto mechanic for the City of Jacksonville. His hard work, dedication, and knowledge were a reflection of the man he was—dependable, hardworking, and always willing to lend a hand.
Kenny proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served with courage and dedication and was honored with several medals, including the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Sharpshooter Medal. His service and sacrifice for his country will always be remembered with pride and gratitude.
In 1987, Kenny married the love of his life, Kim “Gin.” Together, they built a life filled with love, family, laughter, challenges, and countless memories. Through all of life’s seasons, they remained by each other’s side.
Kenny’s greatest joy, however, was his family.
His daughter, Christina, was truly the apple of his eye. Becoming a grandfather brought him another special kind of happiness. His grandchildren, Christopher and Olivia, held an especially precious place in his heart. He cherished them dearly and loved being their grandfather.
Kenny was also blessed with a son-in-law, Bryan, whom he loved and respected and considered the best son-in-law anyone could ask for. Family was never simply a word to Kenny; it was the greatest part of his life.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kim “Gin” Sheetz; his beloved daughter, Christina; his son-in-law, Bryan; his cherished grandchildren, Christopher and Olivia; and his siblings and extended family, including his sister Sue and brother-in-law Roy Fernandez, along with Sue’s sons, his beloved nephews; his sister Joy and brother-in-law Chino Flores; his brother-in-law Richard Bowser, husband of his late sister Patti, along with Patti’s beloved daughters, Kenny’s nieces; his brother and sister-in-law Chip and Maryann Edney, and nephew Joshua Edney; his brother and sister-in-law Charles and Sherri Reed and their children; as well as many other family members and dear friends.
Kenny was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Patti Bowser.
While Kenny accomplished many things throughout his life, his greatest accomplishment was the love he gave to his family. He was a man who loved deeply, protected fiercely, worked hard, and treasured the people closest to him.
His family will miss his presence, his voice, his stories, his love, and all the little things that made him uniquely Kenny. Though his chair may now be empty and his voice may be quiet, the love he gave his family will never leave them.
His life was one of service, strength, hard work, and, above all, love. He served his country with courage, built a life with the woman he loved, raised a daughter who adored him, and found tremendous joy in being a grandfather.
Kenny’s earthly journey may have come to an end, but the love he gave and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Rest peacefully, Kenny. You were deeply loved, you will be missed beyond measure, and you will never be forgotten.
