Born on May 23, 1955, in Ames, Iowa, Kevin grew up on his family’s farm and spent much of his high school years playing basketball, football, and baseball for South Hamilton High School. In 1984, Kevin relocated to Jacksonville, Florida where he began his career in Power Generation. He worked as an Outage Manager for the St. John’s River Power Park and later as a Manager Business Analyst for JEA. Throughout his career, Kevin was respected for his dedication, knowledge, and the attention to detail that made him so successful.
Kevin was truly the life of the party. He had a big personality, quick wit, and a natural ability to make people laugh. He was known for always getting into a little bit of trouble—and usually having a good story to tell about it afterward. Kevin never did anything halfway, and his larger-than-life personality made him impossible to forget.
When he wasn't working or spending time with the people he loved, Kevin enjoyed one of his favorite activities, golf. Whether on the course with close friends or surrounded by family, Kevin was happiest when he was making memories and enjoying life. His presence could fill a room, and his absence will be felt in all of them.
Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Rhoma Helene Fryslie and father, Hubert Ainslie Tyler.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Catherine Denise Tyler; his daughters, Ashley Wilson (Cody Wilson), and Kimberly Moore (Neil Moore), grandchildren, Brandon Moore, Bryce Moore, and Tanner Wilson. He is also survived by his sisters, Cyndy Hill, Sharon Hanson (Bob), and Angela Tyler-Owen; his brother, Emmett (Peg); as well as his many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Kevin will be remembered for his unforgettable personality, his unapologetic passion, his ability to turn any situation into a good story, and the tremendous love he had for his family. He was one of a kind—funny, loving, mischievous, and full of life. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and memories that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
