

Lamar Marjenhoff, age 88, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida. Lamar was born in Perry, Florida on December 15, 1932. She was the firstborn of six siblings and grew up on a family farm. After graduation, in June of 1950, she moved to Jacksonville to attend Jones Business College. She married Frederick Edward Marjenhoff on August 15, 1954. She briefly worked as a legal secretary and in the summer of 1956 began working for The American National Bank. She worked in the proof department, was promoted to assistant to the vice president and then to head of the bookkeeping department before retiring in December 1962 to become a full-time homemaker. She was a member of San Jose Church of Christ and later Dean Road Church of Christ, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Lamar was an avid reader and enjoyed tending her flowerbeds. She spent countless hours researching genealogy and creating family tree/photo/memorabilia albums. She was predeceased by her parents, Cyrus Strickland Jr. and Della Mae (Poppell) Strickland; sister, Linda Williams; and husband of 59 years, Fred E. Marjenhoff, Sr. She is survived by her brothers, Harvey Strickland, James Strickland (Peggy), Chandler Strickland (Linda); sister, Charlotte Clark; sons, Wayne Marjenhoff (Cindy), Wesley Marjenhoff (Tawny); stepson Fred E. Marjenhoff, Jr.; granddaughters Sara Chance, Amanda Marjenhoff, Troy Marjenhoff, Emery Montana; great granddaughter, Kaila Mercier; and great grandson, Paxton Chance. Funeral services will be held 03/20/2021 at Hardage Giddens Chapel Hills Memory Gardens. Funeral service is 2 pm Saturday, March 20, 2021, with 1 hour prior visitation at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. N. Jacksonville, FL 32225, with burial to follow.
