She was born June 7, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA and later graduated from The University of Florida in 1963 with a BA in business. In 1972 she pursued a degree in education and went on to earn a Masters in Education at JU. She worked as an educator in Duval County Elementary Schools and Hendricks Day School. In 2007, she retired from FCCJ North Campus after 20 years.
Her parents Harpel & Willa Keller precede her in death. Surviving her are her husband of 47 years, Larry Wium, her daughter Heather Wium Murphy & her husband Karl Murphy, and granddaughters Avery and Taylor.
