Letha Somers

Letha Manuel Somers, born October 20, 1934, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on February 24, 2026. She was surrounded by her loving family and the caring staff at Discovery Commons of San Pablo in Jacksonville, Florida.

She was born to Gilbert and Levy Manuel and was one of nine children. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, with the exception of her beloved brother, Junior, who survives her.

Letha met the love of her life, Kenneth F. Somers, while he was serving in the United States Air Force. They met and fell in love in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Soon after, they began building their family together. As a proud Air Force wife, she helped raise their four children on various Air Force bases before eventually settling in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where Kenneth retired as a Major.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth F. Somers, and her son, Joseph Dean Somers.

She is survived by her children: Kenneth F. Somers (Keli), Michelle Somers Burge (James), and Julie Olinto (Brendon). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Trevor Olinto (Caitlyn), Somer Nickolson, Lindsay Burge, Shelley Kight, Jordan Burge, Ryan Burge, Taylor Dunajski (Derek), Michael Somers, and Hunter Burge, along with 13 amazing great-grandchildren who brought her tremendous joy.

Letha’s life was rooted in love, strength, and devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the family she built with unwavering dedication and heart.

Visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, located at 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL, 32225, on February 26, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

The Funeral Service will take place at Christ The King Church, 742 Arlington Rd N, Jacksonville, FL, 32211, on February 27, 2026, starting at 10:30 am.

The Committal Service is scheduled at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL, 32225, on February 27, 2026, immediately following the funeral service.
