Linda Marie Hassenplug, 62, she was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She was battling cancer for the past year and unfortunately lost the battle. She never stopped putting up a fight, because that was the women she was. On her last day on earth she was surrounded by her family.
She was brought into this world by her loving parents, Charles Weldon Barber and Evelyn Lucille Barber and was their pride and joy and the light of their lives. She was her daddy’s girl and her mama’s entire world. She had a wonderful childhood surrounded by so much love. In her teen years she loved spending time with friends at the beach and riding around the north side. When she finally had her daughter and son she found a love that was beyond what she could ever imagined.
She was a loving wife, mother, nanny and friend. She enjoyed her career as a teacher’s assistant at St. Marks Episcopal where she was loved tremendously by the staff, students and parents.
Linda Hassenplug was preceded in death by her father, her mother, both of her brothers and other aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her loving husband Beau Hassenplug, daughter Jamie Smiley-Lane (James T Lane III), son, Charles Mitchell (Lindsey Mitchell), stepson Payton Hassenplug, Her grandson, Damian Peters and granddaughter Olivia “ Bugg” Lane (Jamie Smiley-Lane). She absolutely loved spending time with both of her grandbabies every chance she got.
She will be laid to rest on September 14, 2026 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL, 32205. The viewing will begin at 1:00 PM at the Riverside Event Pavilion, 1373 Memorial Park Rd Jacksonville, FL 32205. The Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 PM in the same location. The Committal Service will take place immediately following the funeral at Riverside Memorial Park.
