Littie Lee (Hull) Butler passed away peacefully on December 24, 2014, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born February 1, 1922, in Cheswick, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Goldie (Broce) Hull and George Fletcher Hull.
She met her husband, Claude L. Butler, when they were working at the Veteran’s Administration in Washington, DC. While he served at SHAEF Headquarters in Europe during WWII, Littie returned to her parents’ home in Pennsylvania and supported the war effort by working for Standard Steel Spring. Upon her husband’s return to the states following the war, they lived in Maryland, where they raised two daughters. She became a widow in December of 1971 and never remarried.
Mrs. Butler was retired from the U.S. Census Bureau. She was a member of AARP, NARFE, and several senior citizens groups. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida, in 2001, where she was a member of Highlands United Presbyterian Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed bowling, and traveled frequently. She also loved to bake and was called “the cookie lady” by many of her friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Dana Hall (Robert) and Claudia McCants (Lorenza); two grandchildren, Marie Beall (Carlton) and Christopher McCants; two great grandchildren, Ashlie and Amber Beall; two great-great grandsons, Harrison and Austin; and seven cherished nieces and nephews. Many people loved Littie and called her Grandma B or Mrs. B. She was preceded in death by her brothers, George, John and Curtis.
