OBITUARY

Louis H. Adams

August 3, 1928August 4, 2012

Mr. Adams is survived by his four daughters: Deborah Young, Grace Kirkpatrick, Michelle Reeves and Lynne Adams Takacs. He also leaves behind four grandsons, Chad Kirkpatrick, Kaden Reeves and Evan and Nathaniel Takacs.

Born on August 3, 1928 in Jacksonville, Lt. Adams was a child of the Great Depression and learned early the value of hard work. He answered his country’s plea of “Who will go?” at the age of 17 when he responded with “Send me” and served in the United States Army Air Forces. During his military career, Lt. Adams served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict. He later served in the Florida Air National Guard. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and attended Florida State University for graduate studies. Before he learned how to drive, he learned to fly with the Civil Air Patrol. He later became a flight instructor, sharing his love of flying with those eager to earn their wings.

Lt. Adams was dearly loved and enjoyed sharing the Gospel. During his retired years he could often be found sharing God’s word in nursing homes and later as a Chaplain for the Civil Air Patrol. His greatest loves were his God, his family and his country and discussing any of the three would instantly bring a smile to his face. While we know he has been made whole in heaven and is in the company of our Heavenly Father, his presence is greatly missed.

Services will be held this Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 6:00-8:00pm at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, located at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville Fl. 32205 and he will be interred in a family plot at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville.

Louis was a wonderful person. Always gentle and soft spoken. As we told you girls at the visitation we have nothing but praise for him. He was such a great flight instructor and our son enjoyed every lesson and every minute he spent with Louis. We thank him for his teaching and the role he played in Tommy's life.

Mr Adams Family

We were members of Cedar Creek and knew him from the Civil Air Patrol. He was a very loving and sweet Gentleman, and he loved to share his love for flying. Very sorry for your loss.

Served in the Guard with Louis, and he was my first flight instructor back 1976. I know he is happy now to really be able to soar! Praise Jesus.

Louis taught me how to fly airplanes and how life should be lived. I'm proud to call him a friend.

Louis Adams was a good Christian man and a trusted military man. I served with him in the Florida Air National Guard and he would be the first person I would want to be teamed up with in time of war.

Daddy, Thanks for holding on until we could tell you our goodbyes. No more pain and suffering. Thank you for teaching us so much. I especially loved how you taught me about the clouds and drafting behind semis in the Porsche. We know you're watching over us from above now. I bet you have missed flying planes lately, but now you have your own set of angel wings and you can soar wherever you want! I'm glad you can finally be with Grandma again and all of our loved ones who already passed. Jesus must be really awesome to talk to in person! We were blessed to have you turn 84 on Friday. Happy belated birthday. Then... Sorrowful to see you leave the day after. Enjoy heaven and we will see you again there some day. Rest in peace and please protect us always. Love, your baby girl forever

Lynn, My prayers are with you and your family. Lean towards God for your strength during this time. Remember, God has chose to call one of his faithful soldiers home to be in his heavenly army. I love you!

I only met Louis one time as a child, but what I recall is that he was a caring loving person and I still have the poem he wrote way back then and he was a wonderfully deep soul.
