Born in Atlanta, Georgia, LuAnne grew up surrounded by family and friends and attended Campbell High School. Her warm personality, outgoing spirit, and gift for making others feel special were evident from an early age and remained with her throughout her life.
After moving to Jacksonville, LuAnne built a life centered on faith, family, and community. She was an active member of her church, an avid gardener and member of the Garden Club of Jacksonville, where she served as Treasurer for many years. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, sewing, and baking, especially her renowned pound cake. Whether creating something beautiful by hand or tending to her flowers, she brought care and creativity to everything she did.
LuAnne’s career spanned multiple areas, all driven by her love of getting to know people. She was a school crossing guard, Avon representative, then an Interior Decorator for Sears for almost ten years. She had a keen eye for color and design and loved traveling the city to help people bring beauty into their homes. Later with Publix she formed many lasting friendships with both co-workers and her favorite ‘regulars’. She never met a stranger and could talk with anyone, quickly making them feel like an old friend. She faithfully remembered birthdays, rarely missing a phone call, and was known for sending thoughtful handwritten notes that brightened the days of all those she loved.
To her family, she was simply “Nana.” Her greatest joy was her family, and she took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her kindness, generosity, humor, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew her. She was both the rock we leaned on and the thread that bound us together.
LuAnne was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine and James Hall, sister Becky Hall Coogler, son Mark DuPree, and her husbands, Donald DuPree and Marion Gordon.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: brother, Richard Hall (Martha); sister, Margaret Holifield (Vance); sons, Bruce DuPree (Renee), Greg DuPree, and Barry DuPree (Kerry); grandchildren, Colette Podgorski, Tiffany Smith (Kyle), James DuPree, Amber Smulcheski (Mike), Madison DuPree, and Dakota DuPree; and great-grandchildren, Zeke Podgorski, Hayden Smith, Alex DuPree, Hadley Smith, Grant Smulcheski, and Grady Smulcheski, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life for LuAnne will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Old Plank Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor her life, share cherished memories, and celebrate the lasting impact she made on all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. A graveside ceremony will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home & Riverside Memorial Park.
Though she will be greatly missed, her legacy of love, faith, friendship, and family will continue for generations to come
