Lvonnie was first and foremost a loving mother to her daughter Debra, and to her favorite and only son in law, Lou. She was a dedicated grandmother to Marcus and Ben and the proud and doting great grandmother to Gibson.
She was the 7th child of a family of 8 siblings. She was a young wife to Willie Graham, Jr who was a loving and supportive husband for over 20 years. She was again lucky in love and married Tommy Broxton, a long time friend and companion. As her immediate family grew, so did her number of nieces and nephews. Aunt Vonnie, as she was fondly called, happily hosted many fun holiday get-togethers, impromptu dinners and more than her share of large family reunions. She loved to cook and bake using the beautiful fruits and vegetables from her and Tommy's backyard garden. Her kitchen was always open and her "country cooking" never failed to please anyone who stopped in to say hello. She also loved to grow sunflowers, but jokingly frowned when their big yellow blooms turned their heads to face opposite her porch. Her frown was legendary! She would just laugh and say "Oh, don't mind me" and that is what we did because we knew she loved us unconditionally. She lost her love of 25 years, Tommy to a long term illness in 2008.
Lvonnie's church family was also a very important part of her life for many years. She was an active member of Harvest Ministries located on Fouraker Rd on Jacksonville's Westside, formally known as the 1st Church. Whether it was being President of the Women's Auxiliary, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir or frying up fish with Tommy in the church kitchen, she always had energy for the Lord. She maintained a close circle of church friends. After a certain age they became known as "The Harvesters". A fun and tight knit group of friends who traveled to visit many popular sites across America. She was charmed by love a third time and married Ken Shirey, a good man and Great American. He also had to say goodbye in 2019 after a brief illness.
