Lynn, or “Nana” as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew her, was born on April 23, 1949 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Lynn truly and fully loved her family with her whole heart. She was a giving, loving, and supportive wife, friend, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
After retiring from the Duval County School System where she was a bookkeeper, she continued to volunteer with the Duval Association of Educational Office Professionals (DAEOP) and helped provide scholarships for high schoolers planning to attend college. She enjoyed dogs, cats, bunnies, butterflies, lighthouses, crafts such as crocheting, and most of all spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren. If you met her you know she had a playful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She fulfilled the role of a second mother or grandmother to her childrens' friends and was involved in every aspect of her childrens' lives including stints as team mom, den mother, PTA volunteer, and never missed an event, game, recital, band performance, show or other function. Her love for her family grew exponentially with her grand and great-grandchildren, also never missing anything they were involved in.
Lynn is survived by her loving husband of nearly 54 years, Joseph “Papa” Ackley, Sr., as well as her three children: Joseph Ackley Jr. (Brandy), Jacksonville, FL, Michelle Despres (Mark), Jacksonville, FL, and Brian Ackley (Michelle), Gaithersburg, MD. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Nicholas Despres (Ellen), Cecilia Despres, Nathan Ackley, Logan Ackley, Joshua Ackley, Keira Ackley, and two great-grandchildren: Dominic and Valerie Despres. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Charlie Becky (Heidi), Joann Sloan (Robert), Nancy Becky, and Steven Becky (Angelique). Lynn is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mary Becky and her brother, Michael Becky.
We will celebrate her amazing life on 11/20/21 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Service will be presided over by Deacon Jack Baker. Visitation is at 1pm and the service will begin at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Humane Society, St. Jude's, a non-profit serving veterans, or the charity of your choice in her honor.
