He was born in Evergreen, North Carolina on December, 15th 1927. Lynwood graduated from Evergreen High School and received a B.S. (Cum Laude) from Wake Forest University, and a M.S. in Business Administration from George Washington University. Lynwood also attended North Carolina State University for one year of Engineering Mathematics and the University of Virginia for two years of Nuclear Physics and Advanced Mathematics education. He was married to Carol Schaffer in October of 1980.
Lynwood worked for the United States Army for 32 years achieving the rank of Brigadier General. In his spare time he had a passion for woodworking and learning about his ancestry.
He is survived by his son, Mark Lennon, grandchildren, Moira Lennon, Claire Lennon, Charles Lennon Jr., Matthew Joseph Lennon and Joseph Lennon, as well as his siblings, Beth Lennon Fleetwood, Ruth Lennon Dowell, Sybil Lennon Tucker, Foy Lennon Wiles, Denver Hartford Lennon Jr. and Bernard B. Lennon.
He is predeceased by his sons Lynwood B. Lennon II, Charles David Lennon, and his brother, Max Lennon.
