Marie S. Geishert, a beloved and devoted wife, aunt, sister and adored friend, slipped into the Hands of God February 21, 2026 in Jacksonville, Florida. She quietly endured many months suffering pain and illness.
She leaves behind her loving husband of nearly 55 years, Philip, and her sisters Kathryn Stanley Podwall (the late Maurice “Bugs” Bower) and Frances Stanley Mirro (James P.), and niece Marie C. Mirro and nephew James J. Mirro (Megan) and grand niece Madeleine Elizabeth Mirro and grand nephew James Martin Mirro, along with her beloved Aunt Jane Fortner (celebrating 106 years young) and numerous cherished cousins and friends across the United States and Germany. She is predeceased by her mother, Marie C. Stanley and her father, Frank Stanley.
Marie had a long and varied career in the hospitality industry and later in public relations and advertising. At one time or another she was the Director of Public Relations at the Palmer House Hotel, and the Drake Hotel, both in Chicago and later the Director of Public Relations at the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C. Marie established her own Public Relations and Advertising business which she operated successfully for 17 years with such clients as Princess Bernadotte of Sweden, J&B Scotch, Hampton Inn Hotels and George Mason University to name a few. She served on or directed the charity committees of Project Hope, Georgetown University Cancer Research, and the Women’s Board of the American Heart Association. She had the distinct honor of being invited to the White House to be thanked by President and Mrs. Clinton for her help organizing events in support of the National Symphony Orchestra. She proudly helped direct two award dinners presented by the Veterans of the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) honoring President Reagan and President George H.W. Bush. With all that, her greatest achievement was serving with distinction for nearly twenty years as a loyal and dedicated Army Wife. For years her passion was volunteering for the Army Community Service (ACS), a service dedicated to helping Army families abroad and at home. She led without fanfare, helped with compassion, sacrificed silently and proudly served.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 11665 Fort Caroline Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32225 with Father John Peter Arul, MSFS officiating. No flowers please.
