Born in Panama City, Panama, Marva obtained a bachelor's degree in Sewing and Secretarial Studies. She worked very hard as a Spanish Teacher’s Aide at John E. Ford for over 10 years. She also volunteered at Orange Park Hospital. She was a very active member of Iglesia Fuente de Luz y Salvacion Church where she loved to sing in the choir. . Marva loved dancing and watching comedies. She loved to laugh and have fun. Her proudest moments were seeing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marva was predeceased by her parents and her sister; Beatriz Grandison Edward.
She is survived by her children: John E. Tappin, Jr. (Rhina), Denicia W. Tappin, and Tania F. Tappin; Grandchildren: Amanda Nicole Rhodes (Dwayne), John “J.D’ David Tappin, Jay Michael Johnson and Javier M. Johnson; Great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Isaac, Izondro and Iliana Rhodes, and Jalisha Tappin; brother, Hernando O. Grandison, and sister, Celia Dorinda Grandison.
Services will be held on June 28, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32205.
