She was born Mary June Cawley on June 8, 1935, in Troy, Alabama and grew up in Andalusia, Alabama. She met and married Pete Croxton and relocated to Mobile, Alabama and then to Jacksonville, Florida where she lived the past 62 years. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for the past 48 years.
Mary had a servant’s heart, and her life was a testament of love, family, church and neighbors. She was a devoted mother, dedicating herself to her children, serving as Room Mom, and held various positions and was active in the PTA and in church teaching young children. She taught pre-school at Spurlin Montessori before beginning a 25-year career with United Parcel Service as a Customer Account Representative.
In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, traveling, fellowshipping with her ladies’ Sunday school class, and fighting squirrels over her birdfeeder. But was happiest in her role as Nana to her grandchildren and great grands.
Mary will be missed for her smile, bright blue eyes, and the many meals and treats she made as a gifted Southern cook for friends and family. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. In lieu of flowers, Mary would be pleased if you made a donation, in her memory, to Florida Baptist Children’s Home or the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
There will a Visitation on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. and Committal Service at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mary is survived by her children: Donna Langone/Tony, Anita Croxton/Rick Stephenson, Angela Walters/Bart, and Jeff Croxton/Christy and grandchildren: Adam, Alexa, Blayre, Brett, Finley, Garrett, Grant, Hayden, Kelly, Megan and Sarah; and great grands Emma, Estelle, Eloise, Carlos, Chloe, Jade, and Renso, along with Cherished friends.
