

Mary Hancock Denton, age 87, died July 10, 2016. She was born on March 20, 1929 in Tallahassee, Florida to Melvin and Willie Hancock. She married John Lewis Denton in 1955. Upon his death, she pursed a career with Dr. Norman Vincent Peale's Center for Christian Living and retired from there as Director of Planned Giving.
Mary was a longtime Methodist and held various positions such as Chair Person of the Administrative Board, Charge Lay Leader, President of United Methodist Women, Sunday School Teacher and President of the Seekers Sunday School Class. She was currently a member of Mountaintop Community Church in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
Mary is survived by her precious daughter, Glyn W. Denton, Birmingham, Alabama; Brother-N-Law, Patrick Hogan, Tallahassee, Florida; Nephew, Wayne C Hogan (Dawn), Mederia Beach, Florida; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Graveside service will be held, Saturday, July 23 at 10am in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
