Mary Alice Walker Freeman, 75, left us on February 26, 2020 after a brief illness. She was born in Thomasville, GA, and became a long-time resident of Jacksonville after meeting the love of her life.
Mary dedicated her life to her family, being married for 53 years to her beloved husband, and raising their three children. Whether it was spending weekends at the ball park, playing games like jacks, Phase 10 or Uno, Mary’s true passion was spending time with her eight amazing grandchildren. Mary also loved spending time with her family on Sundays watching her favorite team the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, James “Shorty” Freeman Sr. She is remembered by her three children James Freeman Jr. (Vickie), Robert Freeman (Brenda), Linda Stephens (Greg), eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, March 5th at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard. Her celebration of life will on Friday, March 6th at 11 am officiated by Terry Chandler at the same location. All are welcome to join the family for a reception following the graveside service at Crystal Springs Park Pavilion 1, 10151 Crystal Springs Rd.
