Marybeth Pye Ramos

Marybeth Pye Ramos, aged 74, passed away on August 8, 2019 in Louisville, Kentucky. Marybeth was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended Duval County Public Schools where she began violin lessons in the fourth grade. Marybeth continued on to become the 1st chair violinist and Concertmaster in both Junior High and Senior High School. She was awarded a full scholarship to assume the position of Concertmaster of the Stetson University Orchestra in Deland, Florida while pursuing her degree in music. Her first music teaching post after graduation was with the Jacksonville Beach Public Schools. Marybeth played 1st violin in The Jacksonville Symphony for many years. She married Efrain Ramos and moved to Biloxi, Mississippi where she became Assistant Concertmaster in the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra. She was also hired to play special concerts with the New Orleans Orchestra. Marybeth studied for certification in the Susuki method of teaching music and established a private studio to teach young children how to play the violin. She was truly revered by her students and their families. Marybeth embodied the Divine generosity of being a beloved teacher. Upon her return to Jacksonville she earned a Master's in Early Childhood Education from Jacksonville University and -full circle- taught in the Duval County Public Schools. In 2012 Marybeth suffered a stroke in Jacksonville, Florida. Her brother, Ray Pye and his wife, Sharon, became her Primary Care Givers and moved her to an assisted living and skilled nursing facility in Louisville, Kentucky. She lived her final years under the devoted, loving care of Ray and Sharon. Marybeth is predeceased by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Chapman-Pye; her father, Clifford Alonzo Pye; two aunts, Willie Maude Chapman-Hinton and Katherine Pye-Morton; and an uncle William Murray Pye. Survivors include her brother, Raymond William Pye and his wife, Sharon, her nephew, Austin Pye and his wife, Ashley, grand-nephew, Brent, grand niece, Isabella; her sister Edith Vannerette Pye-Nieratka and her husband, Ernest Nieratka, nephew, Steaven Blair Nieratka and his wife, Lindsey, grand-nephew, Tymon, grand-nephew, Felix; nephew Kevan William Nieratka. A graveside service will be held for Marybeth Ramos on Friday, August 16th at 10 am at Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn funeral home 4300 Beach Blvd Jacksonville, FL 32207.
