Maryln Ann Richards
September 16, 1933 – October 12, 2020
Maryln Ann Richards, 87, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2020. Maryln was born in Watertown, New York, on September 16, 1933, to John and Isabel McDermott. After growing up and attending school in New York, she made her way to the sunshine state and settled in Jacksonville, Florida, where Maryln later met the love of her life, Johnny C. Richards, whom she referred to as “J.C.” or “Jay.” Maryln and Jay got married on April 30, 1960. Maryln and Jay went on to become the proud parents of six children. Maryln worked for many years as a dental hygienist, before devoting herself full-time to the care of her family. In her younger days, Maryln found great joy in dancing with her husband, her weekly bowling league with her best friend, bingo, and going on cruises. She enjoyed learning new things and dabbled in painting and cake decorating. Maryln could often be found out and about on her motorized scooter, having dinner with family (the filet at Longhorn Steakhouse was a favorite), catching a movie with her grandchildren (she even amassed quite a movie collection herself), and dressing up in holiday-themed outfits for get-togethers at the local senior citizen center (her witch costume for Halloween one year, complete with prosthetic nose, was a real hit). Later in life she was very fond of reading, watching reality television (a guilty pleasure many of us can relate to), and dot-to-dot puzzle workbooks. Maryln is fondly remembered and survived by her six children: Mark Richards (Charlee), Denise Horton (J.R.), Jeff Richards (Sonya), Karen Klusmeyer, Theresa Kilis (Eric), and Thomas Richards (Mellissa). She is survived by her nine grandchildren: John C. (Sarah), Jessica (Jason), Jalissa (Mark), Jenna, Sarah (Eric), Emily (Dylan), Megan (Lee), Steven, and Cassie (Austin). Maryln also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren and is survived by her brother, William McDermott (Lourdes). She was predeceased by her loving husband, Jay, and by her brothers, John, Peter, and Thomas. Maryln will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Maryln’s family now finds peace knowing she has been reunited with her husband, parents, family and friends in Heaven. Maryln’s service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home on October 16, 2020, at 10:00am.
