
Elise was born in Jacksonville on June 9, 1960. She passed away at home on August 8, 2020 after a long battle with biliary cancer. Her ashes were interred in the Bishop’s Garden at the Cathedral in a private ceremony.
Elise was preceded in death by her father, The Rev. A. Stanley Bullock, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Jim Higbe, their three sons, Will (Sasha), Andrew and Griffin and grandsons Hunter and Micah. She is also survived by her mother, Kay Bullock, her brother, Stan III, her sister, Susan Theiling (Glen), her nieces, Hannah, Sally and Lindsay, and her nephew, Lee. She is also survived by the many young people she took under her wing throughout her life.
Elise was a graduate of the Episcopal School of Jacksonville and the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. A life-long Episcopalian, she was a faithful communicant of St. John’s Cathedral where she worked with the youth as well as co-chaired the Alpha Course ministry.
Elise put her political science degree to work in the field of law for well over 30 years. Her final position was with the law firm of Boyd & Jenerette in Jacksonville where she flourished in an atmosphere of respect for her knowledge and good sense.
There will be a reception in Taliaferro Hall at the Cathedral following the service.
