Nancy Jean Ploof, 84, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on her birthday, February 11, 2025. Born in Burlington, Vermont, on February 11, 1941, Nancy lived a life full of love, adventure, and an unshakable devotion to her family.
On December 13, 1958, she married the love of her life, Albert Leo Ploof Jr., and together they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. Their love was evident in the simple joys they found together, whether it was searching for treasures at flea markets and yard sales or simply spending time with their growing family. Nancy had an incredible knack for finding the perfect bargain; if there was something to be found, she would not rest until she had it in hand.
Nancy was refreshingly blunt, never afraid to tell you exactly what was on her mind, no filter, no fluff, and always with a side of laughter. She was the heart of the Ploof family, raising five children while supporting her husband’s military career. With a sharp wit, a strong will, and an endless supply of love, she kept her family grounded and brought warmth to every gathering. She especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren delighting in each new addition to the family. She also found comfort in the simple pleasures of life, sitting outside and watching her beloved cats play.
For many years, Nancy worked as an armored truck driver for Wells Fargo, a role that reflected her strength, determination, and independent spirit.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Albert Leo Ploof Jr., and her loving children: Albert R. Ploof, Jamey Ploof, Debbie Coons, Scott Ploof, and Tammy Middleton. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her 15 grandchildren: Ashley Russell, Jason Wilson, Mary Beth Wickham, Ashley Tallman, Kristen Tenney, Brian Rudolph, Justin Rudolph, Madison Ravn, Corey Ploof, Codey Ploof, Crystal Turk, Brett Middleton, Marley Ragland, Johnny Rosier, and Ashley Smallwood. She was also blessed with 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice Helen Garey Norton and Raymond Stanley Norton, as well as her siblings, Leona Trimble, Patricia Libucha, and Raymond Norton Jr.
Nancy’s love, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to her family will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
