Nathiel Lavern Harden, 79, passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2014. Lavern, as she was known by all of her friends, was born to Nathan and Annie Ruth Robinson on October 26, 1934 in Sale City, GA. Shortly after moving to Jacksonville in 1955, Lavern worked as a bookkeeper for A&P Tea Co. and later with Winn Dixie Inc. in their corporate offices handling the Employees Profit Sharing Program. After retiring from Winn Dixie she and her husband, Clifford, enjoyed caravanning with families and friends in their motor home coach. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Tucker, three sister-in-laws, Dorothy Kilgore, Margie Harden, and Verlan Harden, her son and daughter-in-law Steve and Lina Harden, granddaughter Rebecca Stepp and great-grandson Caleb W. Stepp. Arrangements under the care of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. A public visitation will be held in the chapel on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 1pm followed by a funeral service at 2pm, Reverend Steve Whitcomb officiating. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in Lavern’s name to Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257.
