

Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, on September 7, 1951, she was the cherished daughter of Miguel Montalvo Natal and Evarista Oquendo Andújar.
A faithful servant of the Lord, Reverend Montalvo pursued theological studies, earning both a Master’s and a Doctorate in Theology. She served with unwavering obedience as a pivotal member of the Spanish Eastern District of the Assemblies of God.
A beloved daughter, sister to six siblings, mother of two children, grandmother and great-grandmother to seven, Reverend Montalvo dedicated her life to serving her family and others. Responding to the call of ministry for more than 30 years, she faithfully pastored in Yonkers, New York, while also serving as a teacher in the public school system. Even in retirement, she remained fully active in ministry, outreach, missions, and community service.
Reverend Montalvo was passionate about family and people, and steadfast in her faith. She was a woman of intercession, an influential leader, a pillar of the body of Christ, and a bold preacher of the Gospel. Through her ministry, countless lives were touched by the acceptance, power, and love of God. She planted churches, raised up leaders, and sowed seeds of faith that will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.
She will always be remembered for her steadfast love for God, her powerful testimony of His grace, her compassion for others, and her enduring impact on her family, friends, and church community. She leaves behind a rich heritage of faith, and her legacy will continue to inspire and impact the nations—just as she always dreamed.
A graveside service for Nelida will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
