

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Ofelia Sunglao Consunji on January 10, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida. Ofelia was surrounded by her five children during her brief illness. Ofelia was 88 years old and was well known for her fierce love of her children, devotion to her faith, and delicious cooking. She loved to play Maj Jong and always cooked favorite dishes for her family. Ofelia was born in Guagua, Pampanga in the Philippines, and immigrated with her children to the United States. Aside from cooking for extended family and friends, she worked at the Mayport Navy Exchange for many years. Ofelia was preceded in death by her husband Antonio Consunji; her guardians, Tomas Sunglao and Felicidad Morales Sunglao; and siblings. She is survived by her sister, Uring Sunglao; her children Joe (Mel), Rey (Jenifer), Edith (Brian Moore), Nelson, Edwin (Becky); and seven grandchildren. A lifelong and devoted Catholic, Ofelia was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian burial for Ofelia will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 10472 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32246. The family will receive visitors from 10:30-11:00. Following the Mass of Christian Burial will be a committal service form 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225. A reception will follow at the Maharlika restaurant, 14255-E Beach Blvd. from 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
