Peggy Marie Jennings passed away Friday, March 1, 2013, in Orange Park. She was born July 31, 1948, in Jacksonville, to Lester and Orie Iona Jennings, and was preceded in death by her parents, and by her two sisters, Orie Fay (Jennings) Nobles and Iona Kay (Jennings) Boswell. She is survived by her nephew, Robert Boswell and his wife, Christine; her great-nephew, Matthew Boswell; her nephew, Jeff Nobles and his wife, Angie; her great-nieces, Audrey and Claire Nobles; and beloved cousins in the Jennings and Pickett families. Peggy graduated from Paxon High School in 1966, and briefly attended Massey Business College. She made her home in Dinsmore until her health began to fail in 2009. She was an active member of Dinsmore Baptist Church and Kings Road Baptist Church, where she sang soprano in their church choirs and taught Sunday school classes for young children for many years. From 1966 to 2009, Peggy had a long and successful career at Flowers Baking Company, where she was a computer room supervisor and a human resources administrator. Her many friends at Flowers became a second family to her. After she left Flowers, these friends remained attentive to her needs for the rest of her life, and her family is grateful for their kindness and generosity. In 2011, after more than a year of hospitalizations and surgeries, she found a new life and community at Heartland Health Care Center in Orange Park. She was an active member in Heartland’s group of long-term residents, where she served as president of the residents’ council and made new friends with the professional staff and residents. She was selected Ms. Heartland in June 2012, and participated in Clay County’s Ms. Assisted Living Facility pageant, an event that brought joy to her and her proud family and friends. Her family is grateful to the staff and residents at Heartland for bringing Peggy so much happiness. Her life in the Dinsmore community, at Flowers, and at Heartland was a story of love and caring for others. She was deeply devoted to her parents, her sisters, her nephews and their families, and her friends. She shared many holiday meals, births, marriages, troubles, and funerals with her very closest friends, Barbara, Shirley, Sue, and Sheri, and their families. And she shared joys and sorrows with other dear friends who are too numerous to mention by name. The affection these sweet people have shared will always provide warm memories to her family and others who loved her. Peggy loved all of us very deeply and her life was a precious gift to us. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 9, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, with services following at 2 p.m., officiated by Rev. Lee Whitaker. Interment will be at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville, FL. Family and friends may leave online memories and condolences to the family at www.townandcountryfuneralhome
