

Born on August 15, 1944, in Houlton, Maine, Philip was a skilled and licensed Electrician, a master of many trades, and a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Army with the rank of E-4. He was an esteemed member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans, demonstrating his commitment to both his country and fellow servicemen.
Philip's life was rich with diverse interests and passions. He found solace and joy in fishing, camping, and travel, but his greatest treasures were undoubtedly his wife, Theresa, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A man of unwavering faith, Philip was an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he found spiritual strength and community.
In his youth, Philip reveled in dancing, cherished family time, and relished outings with loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, love, and cherished memories.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeannette Markey, father, Lewis Markey, brothers Donald, David, and James, and sisters Margaret, Delores, Joyce, and Mary Elizabeth. His daughter Christine M. Markey and son Allen J. Markey also preceded him in death.
Philip is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Theresa J. Markey, and his siblings Lewis, William, and Timothy, along with sister Brenda Markey Gilbo. His memory lives on through his children: Philip M. Markey Jr. (Michelle), Ronald E. Markey, Michael W. Markey, and DanaLynn M. Dowling (Michael).
He is also remembered fondly by his 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of his spirit forward.
Philip Matthew Markey Sr. will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and a lifetime of cherished memories. May he rest in eternal peace.
