

Phillip was born on September 20, 1935 in Raum, IL, at home, to Gladys and Leon Stilley. He graduated from Polk County, Illinois High School at the age of 15 and enrolled in Southern Illinois University, graduating with a BS degree in Business. Phillip was in the US Army and stationed in Germany. After returning home, he went to work for his father in Marion, IL. He moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1968, where he owned Jacksonville Stage Lighting.
He was an avid golfer and loved fishing. He and his wife Bettye spent many vacations playing golf. He played golf left-handed and putted right-handed. He loved his dogs and his cat. He took in strays who had a wonderful life in his home. He was predeceased by canines Schatzie, Terry, Sugar, Cookie, Spunky, Cutie Pie, Precious, Buddy, Judi and feline, Whittle. Phillip was a Master Mason and a Shriner.
He was predeceased by his parents Leon and Gladys Stilley and sister Annette Bowman and is survived by his wife Bettye Stilley, brother Richard Stilley, sister-in-law Kathryn, brother and sister-in-law Hugh and Banky Wilson, nephews Christopher Stilley and Andrew Bowman.

The family will receive friends at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 4:30 pm until 6:30 pm. Burial will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 10:30 am.
