It is with deep love that we are in celebration of the life lived by Rachel Mae Richardson, born Jan 24th of 1955. Rachel Ruffin was born on this beautiful day in Jacksonville, NC, affectionately known to those that love her as “Rae Rae”. Daughter to Willie and Annie Mae Ruffin, knee baby sister of 7-survived by Frankie Miller, wife to Ronald Richardson, mother to Ronnie Richardson and Demica Gray, grandmother of 6, auntie, cousin, and family to all those that loved her along the way! Peacefully took her rest on August 21, 2025, at 4:42am, after silently battling liver cancer and dementia.
Rachel was a pillar to the community and spent a great portion of her life serving, before her sickness. She was very strong, resilient, never complaining. She was loving, kind and a great listener-best friend to the end. Her smile was as bright as the sun, love as strong as her bond, spirit as pure as her song, and soul that would dance no matter the cause. I can still see her dancing, I can still hear her singing, I can still feel her presence- thank you Rae Rae!!
Rachel was a great mother and wonderful wife. Rachel enjoyed her life! She experienced many trips, friends, concerts, and a home that was prepared just the way she liked. She was never bored and always taken care of, as she in turn took care of all of us. Rachel was absolutely grateful for the life that she lived and am sure she would do it all over again.
In loving memory of the life that you lead… mother, wife, sister, and friend! The happiness that we feel that your peace will help us to heal. We love you always and your presence will be missed, 100%!!
