

Rebecca Gillis, age 68, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, August 26, 2022. She was born in Jacksonville, FL on September 30,1953 to Adrian and Mary Ellen Shanklin. Before quietly retiring in 2019, Becky had over a 45 year dedicated career at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida. She was known as a reserved yet high energy, high producing worker who was proficient as a programmer, examiner and analyst.
Becky was a long time member of the former Avondale Baptist Church. She loved listening to the Gaither Vocal Band, following her favorite soap operas, reading novels, and most recently, playing bingo at the Palagio. However, following the activities of her grandchildren was her favorite thing to do. She was so proud of them. She loved her family and spending time with them.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian and Mary Ellen Shanklin. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Hodges (Dan); 3 grandchildren Lauren Maierhoffer (Thomas), Jack and Brad Hodges; sister,
Debby Little (Craig); nieces, Christi Oca and Leslie Faircloth (Chris); 3 great-nieces, Kailee and Kenzie Oca, Rylee Faircloth; along with numerous cousins, dear friends and her latest sweet friends at Palagio Senior Living.
A visitation for Rebecca will be held Friday, September 2, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A graveside service will occur Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions can be made to The Local Hospice Facilities, Community Hospice, Vitas, and Haven Hospice of Orange Park & Jacksonville, Florida.
